Beschreibung

The volume of water available in a geographic region is a function of climate and climatic variation. Arid and semi-arid regions are naturally vulnerable to water scarcity. These regions are also vulnerable as a result of population density and economic development. These social factors determine how much water is withdrawn (used for human purposes and partly returned to the original source) or consumed (used for human purposes and not returned to the source). Therefore, water scarcity results from a combination of natural and social factors. The presence of water scarcity has troubled us for too long. Despite the efforts of the concerned authorities, everywhere, everybody is facing a shortage of water. How to measure it? What is the magnitude of it? Where does the solution lie? This work is a humble attempt to answer these and other important questions concerning water scarcity.
