In spite of portraying Judas as a betrayer, the Gospel of Judas depicts Judas in a sympathetic and is even given a privileged light. Indeed, in the Gospel of Judas, it is written that Jesus Christ has asked Judas Iscariot to betray him so that he can be freed from his physical body. In other words, the betrayal was a sacrifice but till today there are many people who regard Judas Iscariot as a betrayer.
