This text illustrates and reasons that traveling independent of tour operators (also "sustainable" tour operators) is an idealistically better option. The polarized gap between poverty and the wealthy will constantly grow without global knowledge of how tour operators effect local communities. A self-organized vacation with thoughtful decisions on when, what how and who to experience is a fulfilled and forward-thinking activity.
